The company was founded in 1929 by Mr. Georg Dechentreiter senior. The company name GEDA is derived from him: Georg Dechentreiter, Asbach. At that time the company marketed and repaired agricultural machines, later it expanded into the field of construction equipment.

In 1963 the son, Georg Rudolf Dechentreiter, took over GEDA and focussed on the production and sales of construction winches.

A short outline of the GEDA success story:

1975 launch of the GEDA-lift, that in the meantime sold over 45.000 times.

1990 Development of the rack hoist.

1996 GEDA introduces the first transport platform for loads and persons.

From 1999 on Mr. Johann Sailer has been heading the independent GEDA company.

2001 The product range was extended by the new product Permanent Installations. The development of Building Maintenance Units was the first step.
